The first couple of weeks of parenthood wasn't easy. There were a lot of preparation, admin tasks, sleep deficiency, worries, amidst the adjustments and priority changes. As I began to feel the pain of sacrifice, it dawned upon me that this sacrifice might very much be an intentional design from God to teach parents how to love our children, without which it wouldn’t be the same. As an example, loving your dog and take good care of him/her, as opposed to loving your dog but outsourcing that responsibility to another. It's hard to think of a concrete example of a love that pays no price or sacrifice.
And that brings us back to the Father’s love, where that first sacrificial love was demonstrated to us. He could have loved us without paying a price, but He did, nonetheless.
As we look back, we can say that the price paid was worth it. Because we love our children.
